Unique Lodging Experiences at Walt Disney World

Disney World has some of the most uniquely themed resorts with hotel rooms that grant you a view of grazing zebras and giraffes to resorts themed after the celebration of Mardi Gras. Some hotels are over-the-top with Disney theming while others are more subtle.

However, there are two lodging experiences that we believe will grant you the most unique experience out of all of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. If you’re looking to spend time in nature while at Disney World, you may want to check out the Treehouse Villas and the Cabins at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

Our first unique lodging experience is located at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. While you can book a standard studio room, the Treehouse Villas are what truly make this resort one of the most unique in all of Disney World.

It can be easy to forget that you’re in one of the country’s biggest theme park resorts when you look out your window to the sights of Florida’s woodlands.

These hotel rooms get their names due to their elevation up in the air. You’ll truly feel as though you’re up in the treetops, hence the name Treehouse Villas. If the hustle and bustle of the theme parks is too overwhelming, the Treehouses can be a relaxing escape at night or on your break days away from the parks.

Not only are these rooms secluded and tranquil, but they can sleep up to 9 guests! With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a full kitchen, this resort feels like a home away from home. While it is a more expensive resort, the full kitchen can be perfect for longer stays so you can save on having to dine out for every meal. Just imagine making a home-cooked breakfast and dining out on your patio as you overlook the serene forests and wildlife of the surrounding woodlands.

You’ll even get access to your own charcoal grill if you want to spend an evening cooking up some burgers and hotdogs during your Disney vacation!

Despite the uniqueness of the room, Saratoga Springs still has all of the same amenities as other Disney hotels. You can go swimming in two of their main pools or relax at one of their 3 leisure pools.

They also offer the same fun activities as the other hotels like Disney movies under the stars and campfires every night from 5:30-6:30.

The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go camping at Disney World? Disney’s Fort Wilderness offers that experience with 750 acres of forest where you can stay in one of their rustic cabins during your Disney vacation.

The cabins at Fort Wilderness sleep up to 6 adults and offer a bedroom, bathroom, a living area, as well as a full kitchen. They even have your own private patio with a charcoal grill! This resort is made up of 21 loops, with 7 of those dedicated to the cabins (the other 14 are for RVs and people roughing it out in tents).

The cabins are also one of the only dog-friendly resorts, so you can even bring your furry best friend along with you!

One of the best parts of staying at the cabins is how excited everyone gets for the holidays. When staying here, you’ll notice that many guests decorate their front lawns, especially around Halloween and Christmas time. They even host their own unofficial Halloween parade where guests drive through the resort in their decorated golf carts.

Even if you choose not to decorate, you can enjoy the sights by renting a golf cart and driving through the various loops to admire everyone’s decorations. Staying in the cabins is one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Even though you’ll be “roughing it” in terms of camping, you can still find all of the same amenities as any Disney hotel, such as dining options and multiple swimming pools. In fact, Fort Wilderness is home to one of Disney’s most unique and entertaining restaurants: Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. As you dine on fried chicken and smoked BBQ ribs, you can enjoy a two-hour performance of dancing, singing, and comedy!

Fort Wilderness also offers both bus and water transportation to all of the major theme parks so you don’t need to worry about driving and parking when you’re ready to go into the parks.

Camping is already a fun family experience, but it’s even more exciting when you can do it at Disney World! If waking up in the wilderness and cooking breakfast in a cabin before heading over to Magic Kingdom for a fun day in the parks sounds like a good time to you, then Fort Wilderness is the place to be!
