Animal Kingdom Overview

Animal Kingdom is the largest theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort, but one that is sometimes overlooked or underappreciated. This theme park offers rare views of animals, exciting rides, and delicious eats!

The Tree of Life

Every Disney World theme park has its own icon, a large visual magnet that you can’t miss when you walk into the park. In Animal Kingdom, you’ll find the breathtaking Tree of Life. This 145-foot-tall tree celebrates and honors the living creatures that you’ll find throughout the park. You could spend hours walking around the tree and still might not identify the hundreds of animals and creatures carved throughout its trunk and branches.

Learn About Live and Exotic Animals

As implied in the name, Animal Kingdom is all about the animals, which is why it is the largest of the Disney parks. It is designed to allow for space for all of the wildlife so that they don’t feel trapped or crowded. One of the highlights of this park is the Kilimanjaro Safari where you can be taken on a tour of the African savanna to see animals roaming free, such as giraffes, zebras, lions, and more!

For a more intimate and up-close look at some of these incredible creatures, we can help you choose and book from a number of tours and experiences available in Animal Kingdom. The cast members of this park love educating guests, so if you have little ones who love learning about animals or want the chance to pet a white rhino, then these tours may be worth the additional prices.

Even without an extra tour, this park has plenty to do in the way of enjoying the sights of animals. You can take a walk through the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail to take photos of gorillas, hippos, zebras, and more; or take the Wildlife Express Train over to the Conservation Station to learn about how the park veterinarians take care of all the animals in the park.

Experience Thrills and Adventure with Fun Rides

Despite most of the land being dedicated to the safari and all of Animal Kingdom’s many animals, this park still has some of the best rides and attractions in all of Disney World. Even though Avatar’s Flight of Passage opened over 5 years ago, it still has one of the longest wait times in the entire Disney World Resort.

A trip to Animal Kingdom would not be complete without enjoying at least one of their many live entertainment offerings. While there is no formal parade as you can find in Magic Kingdom, there are still plenty of shows and entertainment attractions to enjoy.

One of the most popular is the Festival of the Lion King. This musical performance is offered throughout the day but always fills up, which speaks for its popularity. Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond! is another fun option. Both of these shows feature live music and performers and will remind you of just how much you love the respective films they are both based on.

Even as you walk through the lands of Africa and Asia, you’ll be met with exciting street performers and entertainers. The atmosphere of Animal Kingdom is like no other, making it a truly unique theme park experience.
