Best Restaurants at Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios is known for their incredible movie-centric theming and their restaurants are no different. Every restaurant in Hollywood Studios offers a different dining experience. This post will go through the top 4 dining experiences in Hollywood Studios and what sets them apart from the others.
50’s Prime Time Café
50’s Prime Time Café is one of the most fun and unique dining experiences in all of Disney World that will transport you straight to the kitchen of a family from the 1950s.
As soon as you step into the lobby, you’ll feel as though you’re inside an old fashioned living room from 1950s America until you’re called when your table is ready. You’ll be seated in one of the numerous dining areas inside the restaurant, some of which come with a small retro television with black and white cartoons to watch during your meal!
The menu has offerings that you might expect to eat during a Southern family dinner: fried chicken, chicken pot pie, pot roast, meatloaf, and more. And it wouldn’t be a family dinner without a delicious slice of warm apple pie for dessert! Prime Time is also known for their peanut butter & jelly milkshake which is perfect after spending a warm morning walking around Hollywood Studios.
What really draws people to the 50’s Prime Time Café is the experience. The servers introduce themselves as one of your cousins. They’re there, not just to take your order, but to make sure you keep your elbows off the table and eat all of your vegetables. Be sure to listen to their rules; punishments can include being fed vegetables by a server, being forced to sing in front of the other diners, or even standing in the corner.
If you have someone in your party who is nervous about the atmosphere of this restaurant, don’t worry. The servers are good at picking on who wants to participate and who would rather observe the chaos – you can even let them know that you’re just there to observe rather than participate in the interactions.
Since this is such a unique dining experience, reservations are recommended. You can try to get on the walk-up list, but if this is a must-do for you, let us know and we can make sure we book you an advanced dining reservation before your Disney vacation.
Woody’s Lunch Box
If you’re a fan of Toy Story, Woody’s Lunch Box is a great quick-service option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
For breakfast, Woody’s Lunch Box has a delicious breakfast bowl with tater tots, gravy, scrambled eggs, and green onions. You can also grab an on-the-go meal by ordering a lunch box tart; these typically come in seasonal flavors depending on when you’re visiting, so you could try a different tart every time!
You can also order from their lunch menu during breakfast, or you can stop by for lunch or dinner to enjoy a BBQ brisket melt, grilled cheese, smoked turkey sandwich, or their loaded totchos with chili and queso.
Because this is a quick-service dining location, you don’t need reservations. You can simply walk up and order or place a mobile order using the My Disney Experience App. There is a decent amount of seating, so once you order, you can go find a table to enjoy your meal.
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater
The Sci-Fi Dine in Theaters is perfect for families with young children. This casual dining experience makes you feel as though you’ve stepped into a drive-in theater from the 1950s as you enjoy classic American selections like burgers and milkshakes.
This restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner. You’ll be seated at a car-shaped booth where you can enjoy a meal while also watching fun scenes from science fiction movies from the 1950s and 60s. You can also sit in the back of the dining theater at picnic tables; either way, you’ll have a view of the big screen.
Whether you’re there for lunch or dinner, there are plenty of dining selections to choose from. For appetizers, they serve classics such as fried pickles, onion rings, nachos, chicken wings, and a Caesar salad for those looking for a lighter option.
Entrées include a BBQ burger, chicken salad sandwich, a classic American cheeseburger, pesto pasta, and more.
To really complete the 50s feel, you can also choose from a selection of milkshakes. Other desserts include sundaes, cheesecake, fruit salad, and chocolate cake.
This is one of Disney’s more affordable sit-down restaurants, but it is recommended you get dining reservations beforehand. Be sure to let us know if this is on your list of possible restaurants and we will make sure we get you seated!
The Hollywood Brown Derby
The Hollywood Brown Derby is probably Hollywood Studios’ most iconic restaurant. This signature dining restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and takes direct inspiration from the famous Brown Derby from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
They are most famous for their cobb salad with turkey, bacon, egg, tomatoes, blue cheese, and avocado, with chicken and classic dressing. If that doesn’t sound like your thing, they have plenty of other offerings to choose from. The Brown Derby serves appetizers like shrimp cocktail and escargot. Entrées aside from the
cobb salad include filet mignon, chicken and dumplings, lamb shank, and more. You can also order a side of seared Brussels sprouts, spoon bread, and shrimp macaroni and cheese.
For dessert, they have decadent chocolate cake, a chocolate rose, and a yummy crème brûlée.
For those over 21, this is one of the best locations in Hollywood Studios to enjoy an alcoholic beverage. They have a variety of options including different wines and cognacs.
Since this is one of Hollywood Studios’ most popular restaurants, we can help you book a dining reservation to make sure you don’t miss out on dining here during your Disney vacation. It truly is the best way to appreciate a park that’s dedicated to the glitz and glamor of Hollywood.
