Your Super Bowl LVII Questions: Answered

Sports Fans! Super Bowl loyalists! Yes, you! We know you’re excited to get your tickets for the 2023 Super Bowl at the State Farm Stadium and we also know that you, being the ultra-prepared traveler that you are, you probably have lots of questions! Sure, okay, so you’ve been to Phoenix before. But you didn’t go during the Super Bowl, did you? No, we thought so. You were there on a chill weekend. As any loyal NFL fan knows, Super Bowl weekend (and week!) is essentially a city-wide holiday of chaos and people for the host city. Traffic is going to be worse than you imagine and we’re here to answer any and everything you might be wondering. Let’s break it down.

So, Where Can I Buy Tickets?

First things first, of course. how are you going to get your tickets for the Super Bowl LVII? Well, Super Bowl tickets are not always the easiest thing to come by, but it is possible to get them! You just have to have strategy and a lot of luck.

The thing about the Super Bowl, is that they don’t sell just tons and tons of tickets to the public. Initially, a large majority of the tickets go to the players, first and foremost. After that, many tickets for the Super Bowl go to sponsors. Tickets eventually go on sale to the public, through the NFL (but they won’t sell many.)

Many Super Bowl-goers prefer to purchase from a “package” option through websites that have purchased Super Bowl tickets and bundled them with resort reservations, shuttles to the stadium on gameday, etc. These packages vary site by site and they might cost you a pretty penny, but it takes care of almost all of your planning, which can be really convenient for such an involved trip! If you like the idea of having your entire trip itinerary checked off your to-do list in one click, or if planning and travel details sound like a nightmare to you, consider buying a Super Bowl package!

Another option is to try to purchase tickets through a verified online ticketing marketplace such as Ticketmaster, Seatgeek, or Stubhub. The cheapest Super Bowl tickets you can purchase typically start at over $4,000. That doesn’t include your hotel, your food, your flight, or anything else.

If you choose not to purchase a Super Bowl package, then you’ll need to research and select lodging for the week (or however long you choose to stay in town.) If you do this, be sure to call about reservations and ask the concierge or front desk about a shuttle from the resort to the stadium on game day. If this isn’t offered at your hotel or resort, there are a few other ways to arrive to the stadium with ease.

Where do you park for the Super Bowl? Should I Uber? Does Phoenix have public transport? Can I take a shuttle?

We’ve done the research for you! The State Farm Stadium has specific parking lots that require fans to pay ahead with a mobile app or link. While cash is not accepted at the stadiums’ parking lots, you can bring your credit card and pay on site. Be sure to decide ahead of time what you would like to. If you drove your car to Arizona or rented a car upon arrival, this is the information you’ll need to know!

Otherwise, you can Uber or Lyft. (And that’s probably one of the best options, even if the rate is high.) Going into this Super Bowl week of chaos, you already know that it is going to be expensive and that things will take a longer time than usual. The option of a ride-share can help with cost of a car service on game day. State Farm Stadium’s black lot is where ride-shares will drop guests off and pick them up. The important thing to remember, is that someone will need a phone to call the car service at the end of the game, so even though we all love a good selfie or two, just make sure that at least one person in your party doesn’t let their phone die before you all make it back to where you’re staying. Phoenix also has a charter bus system, so this is a public transportation option that you could also consider!

How Early Do I Need to Get To The Stadium?

Parking lots for the stadium typically open approximately 4 hours before kickoff. This is important to know if you’re driving your vehicle and self-parking. This could also vary on the day of the Super Bowl, so be sure to check the NFL site and the State Farm Stadium for details closer to your trip. How early you arrive also depends on what sort of activities you attend earlier in the day. Many Super Bowl fans love to tailgate in advance.

In terms of tailgating, there are typically several options that you can participate in. There are usually events leading up to the Super Bowl in the days prior, and the day of the game, put on by sponsors. The biggest one is probably the NFL tailgate party. It’s a possibility that you will see celebrities or famous NFL players at these tailgate events. You may have to purchase tickets in advance. So, if you’re wanting to have a good time tailgating, look up times and locations and make your plan for day of the Super Bowl LVII!

What Should You Bring To The Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday?

We always recommend bringing ponchos with you to the Super Bowl. You never know what could happen, and you’ll be glad you thought ahead if the rain starts coming down.

Make sure to bring a form of payment. We also highly recommend bringing a portable charger for your phone! Make sure it’s fully charged for game day and it could end up really being a lifesaver if your phone starts to die. Pictures and phone calls to the rest of your group really drain the phone faster than you think. You don’t want to get into an emergency.

Bring a disposable camera or small digital camera, (professional cameras are not allowed!) The NFL website has a list of items that are not allowed, and it’s a great idea to check it out when packing.

Lastly, make sure to support your team with the right colors of course! (But you knew that one.)

Will there be any Covid protocol for State Farm Stadium?

Last year, in 2022, Super Bowl goers were required to show their Covid vaccination card or proof of negative PCR test in the last 48 hours. Information on Covid requirements for the Super Bowl LVII has not been released yet, however it’s not a bad idea to prepare with this knowledge of how it went last year. If you have your vaccine card, consider bringing it with you to travel just in case. Or, get a test in advance of your flight. This will ensure that you won’t be turned away after dropping thousands on your Super Bowl extravaganza week!
