Oh the Places You’ll Go! But, How to Choose?
So you know you want to go on vacation, but have no idea where to go! Do you go to your favorite beach town in California again or use that hard-earned vacation time for a journey to a new destination across the globe, like Italy and Spain? Choosing your destination can be one of the most fun parts of planning your vacation. There are a few important things to consider when choosing your travel destination. We’ll explore how timing, budget, travelers, and preferences can help you determine your next vacation spot!
Timing
Your travel destination may depend on how much time you have to be away. If you only have a short amount of time, like a weekend, you may want to consider somewhere closer to home or a new city in a state you visited before. Firstly, the costs for airfare will likely be cheaper traveling somwhere close to home and you may even be able to drive to your destination. This is good to consider for a quick trip.
If you visit a brand new location for the first time, you may not have enough time to do all of your preferred activities if you are only on vacation for a few days. Travel times to further away destinations will eat into the time actually spent at your destination.
If you are able to take a longer trip, weeks to months, you may choose a destination further from home since the cost and travel time will make more sense when you have ample time to explore a new city! With more time to travel, you can also consider new experinces, like a cruise or a longer, guided tour.
Budget
This may be the most important consideration when choosing your travel destination. You will want to plan a trip that fits within your set budget so that you are able to enjoy it to the fullest. Your budget will include transportation, lodging, food/drink, souvenirs, and any activities/experiences you will be participating in on your trip. Researching your destination and working with a travel agent are great ways to make sure your trip will meet your expectations while staying on budget. Your travel agent may also have access to deals for you to save money or offer vacation ideas that you hadn’t considered that are more budget-friendly.
Based on your budget and desired destination, an all inclusive resort may also be something to consider since packages typically include activities, hotel, and food and drink, meaning there are no additional costs once you start your trip!
Preferences
Picking where to go on your next vacation will also come down to what you are wanting out of the trip. You’ll decide if you want a tropical vacation or to visit the cold, snowy mountains. Do you want to revisit a familiar location or journey to somwhere new? Will this vacation be full of relaxing at the pool and eating great food or going on adventures like sighseeting and cave explorations? Figuring out what you want to do during your trip can help you narrow down the location. In most places, you can relax and have an adventure, or if you have more time, you can visit multiple places and have different experiences throughout your journey. Your travel agent will be able to help you pick the perfect destination based on your vacation dreams!
